Project 303: Simple layout cards x2
This weekend I wanted to bolster my stash of cards for the office rather than focusing on challenges or personal makes. I was asked to make some more boy cards so I spent some time casing some old favourites, including dinosaurs like this, robots like this and trying out a few new ideas. I love the guitar from the retro Creative Stamping set from January 2015 and decided to try a super simple version with it as a hero.
I stamped the guitar onto plain stock and then cut it out - no matching dies here! - and then chose some scraps in similar colors. I used the greeting from the set as I thought it matched the retro vibe though it was hard to read against the stripes so I did the second one a bit of red scrap. Happy these two came together really quickly, using scraps and minimal tools.
While I was investigating my scraps I came across this embossed bird and decided to make a card that used her. She's from last summer's Creative Stamping (May? June?) and I made her for our purple MAWTT project (still time to enter until Thursday 17th March!) and when she came out kind of blurry I gave up on her. Not really fair to her as she's lovely, just not sharp enough for a DT make in my opinion. I decided to put her against black stock, using purple ribbon as an edge.
I added a sentiment and totally goofed by dropping the stamp. Doh. So I used a black off-cut from where I had trimmed the bottom of the card and used a different sentiment from Little Claire. I heat embossed it in purple (you can't tell from the photo but you can sort of tell in real life) and then added some diamond gems for bling. I like it, don't love it, but I'm glad I was able to use her without it going to waste!
